Blending Profit and Purpose: The Future of Hybrid Organizations

I'll be moderating the session Blending Profit and Purpose: The Future of Hybrid Organizations at the Net Impact Annual Conference taking place in Silicon Valley from October 24-26. The panelists are: Robert Lang, CEO and Founder of Americans for Community Development and creator of the first L3C (low-profit limited liability company); Bart Houlihan, Co-Founder of B Lab, the nonprofit driving systemic change through the Certified B Corporation, B Analytics, and the benefit corporation;  and Ron Roman, a business management faculty member at San Jose State University.

We'll be discussing the  L3C, the benefit corporation, and the future of these new forms as well as the place of social responsibility in traditional business entities. And we'll leave lots of time for questions from the audience. I hope you'll join us in what should be a lively dicussion!

Net Impact is a leading nonprofit that empowers a new generation to use their careers to drive transformational change in the workplace and the world. At the heart of our community are over 40,000 student and professional leaders from over 300 volunteer-led chapters across the globe working for a sustainable future. Together, we make a net impact that transforms our lives, our organizations, and the world. [Ed. I'm honored to be a former director and lifetime member of Net Impact.]

We've written extensively on the new "hybrid" legal forms available for use for socially-purposed ventures. You can find those posts here.
