  • 60 Minutes and The Washington Post released the results of their joint investigation about how “Congress effectively stripped the Drug Enforcement Administration of its most potent weapon against large drug companies suspected of spilling prescription narcotics onto the nation’s streets.” (Washington Post)
  • Rep. Tom Marino, President Trump’s nominee for the position of the nation’s drug czar, withdrew his name from consideration after the 60 Minutes/Washington Post investigation identified him as the chief advocate of the law that hindered the DEA’s ability to control the opioid crisis and financially benefited the drug industry, which poured money into key legislators election campaigns, most notably Marino and Sen. Orrin Hatch. (CBS News)
