Nonprofit Tweets of the Week – 5/12/17

Catch up with the week’s notable events and shared resources with Nonprofit Tweets of the Week.

Notable Events of the Week:

  • President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey while Comey was leading an investigation into Russia’s interference in the U.S. Presidential election. Trump’s dubious rationale for the firing essentially amounted to Comey being too harsh on Hillary Clinton. But there seemed to be widespread “concerns that Trump was trying to undermine a probe that could threaten his presidency.” Time
  • Sally Yates, former acting Attorney General of the United States, testified before a Senate subcommittee, stating that she warned President Trump, before he fired her, about Michael Flynn, who was the President’s National Security Adviser, and Flynn’s lie about his Russian contacts and his vulnerability to blackmail by Russia. It was also disclosed that two days after the election, former President Obama warned Trump about making Flynn his National Security Adviser to no avail. New York Times
  • Centrist Emmanuel Macron, who supports the European Union, soundly defeated far-right leader Marine Le Pen in France’s presidential election.  “Macron’s win was, in effect, that of the globalist over the nationalist.” Washington Post
